membrane switch circuit is a low-profile electrical switch used to turn circuits on or off. It’s made from flexible materials, allowing it to be thin, durable, and lightweight—ideal for electronic interfaces like control panels, medical devices, appliances, and more.

These circuits are printed using conductive inks (such as silver or carbon) on flexible substrates like PET (Polyester) or FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit), depending on your application requirements.

Types of Membrane Circuit

Silver Flex Circuit

Printed on polyester using silver conductive ink, this is the most cost-effective and flexible solution. It’s ideal for common interface applications with moderate complexity.

PCB-Based Membrane Circuit

Combines a membrane switch with a rigid PCB (printed circuit board), allowing for LED indicators, tactile domes, and even microcontrollers. Ideal for more complex or high-durability projects.

Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC)

Designed using copper circuits on polyimide substrates, FPCs offer high durability, excellent foldability, and are suitable for advanced, compact electronic products.

Typical Materials

  • Top Layer: Graphic overlay made from PET or PC with custom printing.
  • Spacer: Keeps circuit layers apart until a button is pressed.
  • Circuit Layer: Printed with silver, carbon ink, or copper on PET or polyimide (for FPC).
